Blackbird

Blackbird
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise.

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to be free.

Blackbird fly
Blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night.

Blackbird fly Blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night.

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise.
Sir Paul McCartney, born June 18, 1942

May we find the courage this week to come to prayer in the dead of night on our broken wings, may we come longing to see through our sunken eyes the dark black light. May we find there the moment we were waiting for and arise from the journey free to fly upon our broke wings and to see the light, even in the darkest night. Amen.
